Roswell Mill Waterfall in Georgia

the roswell mill covered bridge in georgia

My girlfriend and I went hiking on the Vickery Creek Trail at Roswell Mill this weekend. It was a refreshing activity for a hot summer day. The park is located about 30 minutes north of the city of Atlanta. The trail is just under 5 miles long. The hike is considered moderate to strenuous. You cannot swim in front of or under the waterfall, but there is a swimming hole nearby. Some people swim in the water adjacent to the waterfall.

The trail is kid-friendly although not stroller-friendly. The large waterfall is a man-made structure used as a spillway for the Chattahoochee River. There are Civil War ruins, a charming covered bridge, and plenty of wildlife to see. We had a great time exploring the park and getting our steps in for the day.

There are many fun summer activities to enjoy even when it’s scorching hot outside. Many parks have shaded areas and you can have a picnic with plenty of cold beverages. Splash pads are excellent for children. Sunset viewings are magical and optimal if waiting for the weather to cool down for the day.

What are some of your favorite summer activities?
