Highlights of a World Traveler

September 1, 2020

I have been fortunate to be able to travel to various parts of the world. Traveling awakens many dormant areas in our imagination. It is liberating. It aids in self discovery. It is necessary.

To date, I have uncovered 11 countries. Some of them, multiple times. I have been to Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Africa, The Bahamas, Canada, France, Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland, and Mexico. In the United States, I have visited 16 out of the 50 states so far. They include Florida, California, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Hawaii, New York, Tennessee, New Jersey, Illinois, Nevada, and of course, Georgia. I don’t have a favorite travel destination. I enjoy many different places for different reasons.

This pandemic has inevitably halted a lot of my travel plans. When it is finally safe to travel again, especially internationally, I plan to continue to explore. My travel goals include visiting all 7 continents. Yes. Even Antarctica. Although it is one of the coldest places on earth, the resilient wildlife makes it a breathtaking place for nature-watching. I would also like to see the aurora borealis in Fairbanks, Alaska. I have yet to visit Niagara Falls. My husband and I contemplated it last year but we decided on another venture instead. I would love to tour all 50 US states in a three-month-long road trip in a luxury RV. I would also love to visit a few exotic places from screen savers such as the infamous castle on a rock in Edinburgh, Scotland.
