Mother’s Day in London, England

I’m thankful to be a mother! Judah brightens my life and I learn from him every day! This Mother’s Day was very special. We traveled to London, England. Mother’s Day in England is celebrated way before the holiday in the United States but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.

My good friend from Paris, France where I studied abroad for three years, Laure, lives in London so we got to spend quality time together. Laure has a joyful and charming personality that’s truly infectious. I have visited London once before on a girls trip and it was amazing! We took the Eurostar from Paris and made a day trip out of it.

Although the weather was mostly grey, experiencing over 14 hours of daylight was one of the highlights of my trip. Judah enjoyed playing at Hyde Park which is the largest park in London and it’s centrally located. The London Zoo was quaint yet detailed. We got there just in time to watch the capuchin monkeys during their feeding time.

I secured a two for one attraction pass of the London Eye and Sea Life London. The London Eye was not as frightening as I thought it would be. It rotates at a snail’s pace so you barely feel a thing. The views were wonderful! The London Eye is 443 feet tall and has a diameter 394 feet wide. It has 32 capsules attached to the wheel and the capsules represent Greater London, as it’s comprised of the City of London and its 31 boroughs. I enjoyed shopping on Oxford St. I walked over 11k steps that day and it felt great!

“Motherhood is the biggest gamble in the world. It is the glorious life force. It’s huge and scary – it’s an act of infinite optimism.” — Gilda Radner

Judah and I ate very well in London. I could taste how much more organic the food was there than in the states. We had our fair share of English fish and chips from local pubs. We loved the authentic Italian cuisine. Paul, the staple French bakery, was my go-to for breakfast. I ordered a few extra pastries for us to snack on during the day on each visit.

Mother’s Day can be celebrated in small and grand ways. It’s always the thought and the effort that counts. I pray that all mothers enjoy this beautiful journey of motherhood, which is unique to each one of us, to the fullest every day!

How did you spend Mother’s Day? Do you have any Mother’s Day traditions?
