Sunset Biplane Tour of Atlanta

April 30, 2023

A few weeks ago, I treated my son and my friend Sarah to a sunset biplane tour of Atlanta! I purchased the deal from Biplane Rides Over Atlanta via Groupon. It was affordable and scheduling was seamless. We had to reschedule the first appointment due to the weather but it was well worth the wait. My son is three years old so it was mesmerizing to see his joyful perspective of the experience. Especially since he rode shotgun. Our tour in the Piper Cherokee lasted about 30 minutes which is generous for an air tour.

It was wonderful to see Atlanta’s nightly skyline and our pilot was professional and comical. The aerial view of the Mercedes Benz stadium was the most breathtaking building as the roof’s color changed between a few florescent hues. The sunset itself was heavenly. The orange glaze was magical to capture at that angle. It was satisfying to watch the traffic flow along the highways and roads as well.

After our biplane tour, we dined at 57th Fighter Group Restaurant which is an American eatery with WWII-themed decor. It has a view of the runway as it serves as the entrance to the tour as well. We enjoyed our meals and the service was friendly. Their mac and cheese is creamy and flavorful. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio that gives a more intimate view of the runway and room for children to run and play.

Have you ever been on a biplane or helicopter tour? If so, what was the highlight of the experience?
