How to Save on Family Outings

February 21, 2022

Family outings are fun and memorable but the associated expenses add up quickly. One way I save on our family outings is by purchasing annual memberships to local attractions. We have memberships to various attractions within metro Atlanta. The memberships’ annual prices pay for themselves in two to three visits in most cases.

We also forego having to book ahead more often, than not. That is one of the top membership perks since I am a free spirit at heart. Otherwise, and especially due to the pandemic, most places have reduced their capacity allowance and require advanced booking in order to enforce social distancing.

Saving on one-day admissions can be done by taking advantage of group discounts. They are usually available for large families or groups and often include additional freebies depending on the available amenities of the specific attraction. When deciding on an outing, I rotate our activities based on the weather, the attraction’s operating days/hours, and seasonal exhibits. We love animal sanctuaries, science and children’s museums, art exhibits, and theme parks.
