My son and I spent our Memorial Day week with our family in south Florida. I managed to redeem my airline miles for two roundtrip flights and only spent $22.40 out of pocket! We had a Family Pool Day on Memorial Day and enjoyed some scrumptious barbeque as well. It was nostalgic to fellowship, laugh and reminisce on our childhood. We are intentional about having our children grow up together, similar to how we did, so it was great to see the effortless bond develop between the younger generation of cousins. The pool day is certainly a core memory for everyone!
We spent the remaining days leisurely with visits with family members and visiting local attractions like Sawgrass Mills Mall. We had a couple of Mommy and Me play dates and learning with one of my cousin’s church mommy group. They were corporately enriching. The kids loved playing together and spending time at the splash pad! It’s affirming to see a growing community of parents who value positive parenting.
One of my cousins treated us to brunch at Maple and Cream in Plantation before my son and I flew back home to Atlanta. I love the farm to table concept of the restaurant. We shared the canelas, which are fried battered cinnamon rolls with berries. They were delightful. I had the Nutella French toast which was flavorful. It was generously topped with strawberries and blueberries. The flower and crop garden in the yard is inviting and has a beautiful artisan stone walkway to tour the potted plants. The kids loved smelling the flowers and chasing the butterflies.
