Experiencing an epidemic as life-threatening as the coronavirus can give anyone severe anxiety. So much is unknown. How much longer will we have to deal with this? How many more deaths will there be? What will result from long periods of isolation/social distancing? Anxiety in these times is completely normal. There are many manners we can combat the uncertainties of this pandemic.
Ways to Cope with the COVID-19 Epidemic
Mitigate the amount of news you watch. Watch the news to stay informed on local, national and international updates but stray away from constantly watching every headline, top story and the like. The news can often be negative and not uplifting.
Spring clean. Make time to get your home in order. Purge of unused items, sanitize your space, and enjoy being in a tidy sanctuary. Stock up on cleaning products, toilet paper, and paper towels.
Remain sharp. Now is the time to scan your physical and digital library and read the books you have on your list. It is also a great opportunity to learn or perfect a new craft or hobby. Study a new trade via YouTube, Pinterest or similar channels.
Pray. Spending time with God is an essential and great manner to calm one’s spirit. The Bible App offers many ways to start a bible-reading plan.
Journal. Write down your thoughts and feelings. If handwriting is not your thing, you can jot down your sentiments digitally in your phone or computer. Doing so will aid you in releasing emotions that you may not feel comfortable expressing verbally.
Exercise. Many people are drawn to the online exercising trend. It is a great way to develop a healthy exercising routine. Going on a daily walk/jog around the neighborhood is another great way to get some fresh air and stay in shape.
Stay in touch with friends and family. Although social distancing is greatly encouraged during this pandemic, video calls and group messaging is a fun way to stay in touch with loved ones.
